FairHeat is a fast-growing consultancy on a mission to radically reduce carbon emissions through decarbonising heat by designing and promoting effective heat systems. We provide expert support to organisations implementing heat networks to ensure that the systems they commission are the most efficient and decarbonised solutions they can be. Right now, we need you on our team!

Your Mission:

FairHeat’s Company Accountant role is fundamental to us achieving our aims. Taking sole responsibility for the company’s financial operations, you will ensure that we are responsive to our customers and vendors, meeting our financial targets and reporting requirements. In doing so, you’ll be helping to save carbon emissions and reduce the overall cost to deliver heat. In short, you will be a key part of creating an environment that is greener and helps to make the world a better place.

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Commercial Operations Manager, your remit will cover all day to day accounting processes including, invoicing, cashflow, credit control, VAT and expenses management. Additionally; preparing management accounts, reports, annual budgets and liaising with external accountants and payroll services. You’ll be a highly organized and detail-oriented accountant with knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping practices, playing an integral role in maintaining account information.

Naturally inquisitive, you’ll be comfortable recommending and implementing relevant tools and new processes. You’ll have a common-sense approach to financial systems, allowing you to quickly understand the fundamentals and communicate them to non-financial stakeholders. Confident and self-motivated, comfortable within an SME, you’ll have an excellent interpersonal style, able to operate effectively as part of a dynamic team. You’ll feel comfortable speaking to clients at all levels of seniority.

Additional Information:

We are flexible on hours and location but anticipate a minimum of 23 hours per week with one day per week in our London office.

• Excellent knowledge of general accounting and regulation practices (GAAP)
• ACCA / CIMA Part-Qualified
• 5+ years general accounting and bookkeeping experience
• Experience working with Xero
• Ability to create and develop spreadsheets (Excel)
• Able to communicate effectively with customers and suppliers in order to optimise cashflow
• Comfortable in delivering financial information to all levels of personnel

Desired Skills:

• Good understanding of Engineering or Consultancy practices
• Experience working in an SME / start-up environment
• Xero apps / WorkflowMax
