FairHeat and Carbon Alternatives have launched a consultation on the Heat Interface Unit (HIU) testing regime we developed as part of a DECC-funded project.

The initial regime for UK market conditions has so far seen seven HIUs tested, from six manufacturers, and although the initial test has provided valuable data on HIU performance, we are now reaching out to the industry to help modify and refine the test regime for its second iteration.

Gareth Jones, FairHeat’s Managing Director, said:

“We are conscious that the initial version of the regime was expensive to run, as there were a number of tests that we included primarily for research purposes and that the set-up criteria for certain tests could have been tighter. We are now seeking views from across the industry to ensure that the second test regime we release is fit for purpose, easy to use and understand.”

We are asking interested parties to review the second draft of the test regime and complete the request for feedback form. The deadline for response is Friday 15 July, and completed forms should be returned to gareth.jones@fairheat.com or tom.naughton@fairheat.com.

All responses will be treated as confidential by FairHeat and Carbon Alternatives.

A summary of the feedback will be reviewed by a steering group made up of representatives from BESA, DECC, Engie, E.ON and SSE before the second test regime is finalised.
