The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has released the heat network optimisation guidance videos.
The Heat Network Optimisation Opportunities (HNOO) project and Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) Demonstrator has identified a set of common issues being experienced across heat networks in the UK market. In many cases, these issues are severely compromising heat network performance, with a negative impact on cost of heat and resident experience.
As heat networks are still a relatively new approach in the UK, there is a lack of general know-how in the industry with regards to improving performance, particularly within the operator community.
Working with Anthesis, FairHeat has been engaged by BEIS to produce a set of guides on how to improve the performance of legacy systems. The series of short presentations, aimed at operators, sets out practical steps that can be taken to improve the performance of heat networks.
The series includes eight presentations, each of which focus on a specific area for performance improvement:
0. Introduction to heat networks
1. Reduce network flows
2. Improving Water Quality
3. Reduce return temperatures
4. Reducing Flow Temperatures
5. Reduce complexity & risk
6. Enhance insulation
7. Improve plantroom efficiency
