Graduate Engineer

Alex joined FairHeat as a Graduate Engineer in 2024 after graduating from the University of Leeds with an MEng in Chemical Engineering. During her studies, Alex completed a placement year at Unilever as a Supply Planner for The Vegetarian Butcher, where she ensured consistent supply, managed supply gaps, and balanced cost, carbon, and service metrics. She gained significant experience in cross-functional coordination and risk mitigation.

Previously, Alex worked part-time as a lifeguard and swimming teacher for Bury Council, focusing on safety, teaching skills, and emergency response. She also participated in work experience with Hare, gaining insight into structural engineering and contributing to calculations and data analysis.

Alex is excited to experience the heat network sector, being a part of FairHeat and contributing to its mission of delivering solutions that enable the market to design, deliver and operate heat networks that work for end users and the environment.

“I discovered the heat networking industry while exploring graduate opportunities, and it intrigued me due to its vital role in decarbonisation. I was drawn to Fairheat because of its transparent, supportive culture and the exciting projects showcased on the company website, which aligned with my desire to make a positive impact. I’m passionate about working in a field that challenges me to find innovative solutions, and at Fairheat, I feel that my day-to-day work will contribute to a sustainable future.”
