Anna Sekace

Graduate Engineer

Anna joined FairHeat as a Graduate Engineer in 2025, after completing her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (MEng) at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with First Class Honours.

Prior to joining FairHeat, Anna gained experience through various internships and placements, ranging from quality control in sheet metal production and pharmaceuticals to working in different laboratories exploring efficient gel polish coating production, and optimising production processes at BrewDog.
During her placement at the brewery, she worked on water, chemical, and energy optimisation in cleaning processes, increasing energy recovery and improving cleaning efficiency in main equipment. During this time, she gained practical experience in fluid dynamics and heat transfer, which provided a strong foundation for understanding heat network operations, energy generation processes, and their troubleshooting.

Since joining FairHeat, she has worked within quality assurance and optimisation teams, gaining practical knowledge of the differences between new-build and existing building networks. She has also contributed to ensuring compliance with upcoming HNTAS regulations, while developing an understanding of the impact that non-compliance can have on residents.

"The FairHeat graduate programme provides a wide range of experience in the heat network industry, where graduates are naturally encouraged to pursue professional development. The projects we are involved in as graduate engineers are highly rewarding, as they expose us to real-life challenges and always give us the opportunity to contribute our input to low-carbon projects.Working in a well-supported environment such as FairHeat promotes the growth of young talent and drives the energy sector towards becoming greener, more efficient, and more reliable for end consumers, who are ultimately all of us."
