Ethan Gibson

Graduate Engineer

Ethan joined Fairheat in 2026, excited by the opportunity to continue pursuing his passion for decarbonisation and contribute meaningfully to the fight against climate change in the UK.

Ethan holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University (2024). Following his graduation, he joined Hatch in Montreal, Canada as a Junior Thermal Power Engineer, where his work focused on the decarbonisation of thermal energy systems. He developed experience in combined heat and power (CHP) plants, low-carbon fuels, reciprocating engines, and thermal energy storage technologies. He contributed to process and mechanical engineering deliverables across conceptual and feasibility stages of various projects, one of which being the decarbonisation of a 90 MW thermal power plant on an islanded power system. Prior to joining Hatch, Ethan gained experience in naval HVAC system engineering, where he was involved in the design, quality control, manufacturing, and testing of bespoke cooling equipment.

In his first 8 months at the company, Ethan has been a key member of the Asset Management team, providing urgent project management and engineering support for rapidly failing heat networks, developing improvement strategies, and managing planned preventative maintenance and remedial works.

"What drew me to FairHeat was its dynamic workplace, composed of individuals with various perspectives, but all working towards a common goal to decarbonise heating in the UK and build a cleaner planet. Its values align with my own, and I am excited to work for a company where my ideas are heard, allowing me to make a meaningful impact and grow as an engineer."
