Gareth is FairHeat’s Founder and Managing Director. He brings extensive experience in low‑carbon energy and has played a leading role in shaping UK heat network standards. Gareth works closely with developers, operators and policymakers to drive improvements in system performance and support the transition to a low‑carbon energy future.

More recently, Gareth has worked closely with DESNZ, ScotGov, and Ofgem in developing the upcoming Heat Networks Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS), acting as Lead Technical Author for the scheme. This included overseeing the development of TS1, the draft technical standards that are due to supersede CP1 (2020) once they have been through a technical feedback process from the industry.

At a wider industry level, Gareth Chairs the BESA HIU Standard Technical Committee and is Vice-Chair of the Steeting Group, is of Chair the ADE Heat Network Forum and sits on the ADE CIBSE CP1 Steering Group and CIBSE DHW Working Group.

"FairHeat was originally born from a request from clients to help them interpret data and improve performance of their heat networks. Since then, the business has transformed into a specialist provider of quality assurance to new build developments and operational heat networks.Whilst FairHeat has had a direct impact on hundreds of networks, it is the wider impact on the market that I am most proud of. It is deeply gratifying to see the influence of FairHeat's work across various areas of the market, from the metrics that are used to assess performance, through to testing methodologies and codes of practice within the industry.I’m particularly satisfied about the role that we have had in positioning quality assurance at the heart of heat network development and the fact that we have managed to establish it as a collaborative process. This is resulting in really good outcomes for end residents and doing it in a way that increases skills and know how in the industry."
