Howell Cole

Graduate Engineer

Howell joined FairHeat in 2025 as a graduate engineer, having completed a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. During his academic studies, he developed a strong foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer and energy systems, alongside a growing interest in sustainable and low carbon technologies.

Before university, Howell completed military service with the Singapore Armed Forces, where he developed a high level of discipline, resilience and a structured approach to problem solving, earning a promotion to 3rd Sergeant. Following his military service, he began training as a full time motorcycle mechanic, before deciding to pursue higher education and embark on an engineering career.

Howell was first introduced to FairHeat through a summer internship within the Delivery Team, where he gained hands on experience working on live heat network projects and developed a practical understanding of system operation and performance. He returned to FairHeat full-time in summer 2025, keen to build on his technical knowledge and contribute to the quality assurance, optimisation and delivery of efficient heat network solutions.

"I chose to join FairHeat because I wanted to apply my engineering background to real world energy challenges and contribute to the transition towards low carbon heat. FairHeat’s role at the forefront of improving heat networks and driving better industry standards really stood out to me. Having gained initial hands on experience during my internship, I was keen to return full time and be part of a team that is delivering meaningful, tangible impact in the sector."
