Iman Salem

Graduate Engineer

Iman joined FairHeat as a Graduate Engineer in 2024 after graduating with an MEng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.

During her studies, Iman gained valuable experience through internships at Barings LLC, where she assisted with asset management and financial modelling, and at Stonehage Fleming, where she worked on sustainable investment strategies and helped develop a more inclusive recruitment approach. Iman also conducted research at Imperial, optimising conditions at the Carbon Capture Pilot Plant, and worked as an Advisory Consultant at Alkhemy. Iman served as Treasurer of the Imperial College Basketball Society and competed in the BUCS league.

Motivated by her passion for decarbonisation, Iman joined FairHeat to contribute to the transition to a low-carbon economy. Her time with the company so far has been very exciting, with her focus currently in the Building System Design team, ensuring detailed design within projects and alignment with client goals to decarbonise their heat networks. She is currently part of the Engineering Institute and has worked on CIBSE publications that were presented at the CIBSE Technical Symposium in 2026.

“I chose to join FairHeat as I have always been interested in contributing to the global decarbonisation movement. I feel that morally, we have an individual responsibility in reversing the effects of the climate crisis but without companies joining the movement, there can be no tangible change. FairHeat is at the forefront of decarbonising the heat networks sector, working alongside government and private bodies, creating regulations that will both improve and hold the industry accountable for future generations. I’m excited to be a part of a truly progressive company during a critical time, especially with geopolitical events and high fuel costs.”
