Laura Rashed

Consulting Engineer

Laura joined FairHeat’s Graduate Scheme in 2022, driven by a desire to tackle the challenges associated with climate change. During the scheme, she developed experience across Heat Network Quality Assurance, Optimisation, Building System Design and District Heating Design. In 2024, Laura was shortlised for the CIBSE Young Engineer Award 2024 – Graduate Engineer of the Year.

Laura graduated in 2022 from the University of Bath, where she completed her MEng in Chemical Engineering. During her course of study, she completed a placement year at Unilever, working as a Process Scientist in the Research and Development team. In this role, she worked on developing more efficient ice cream processing methods, and investigated problems with non-dairy ice cream in factories, designing rules and advising brand teams to avoid processing issues and factory waste. In 2020, Laura undertook her master’s research project at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, where she explored the application of carbon membranes in crystallisation processes.

Following successful completion of the programme, Laura was promoted to Consulting Engineer and now works within the Quality Assurance team, helping to ensure the delivery of efficient, high‑performing heat networks for clients.

“I joined FairHeat to help address the challenges of climate change and support the transition to a low‑carbon economy. In my role in the Quality Assurance team, I enjoy seeing the direct impact we have every day by optimising heat networks and improving performance for our clients.”
