Liam Hultén
Consulting Engineer
Liam joined FairHeat in 2025 as a Graduate Engineer. He holds a BEng in Chemical Engineering (2019) and an MEng in Sustainable Energy Systems (2023) from Chalmers University of Technology, where he developed a strong foundation in energy systems, sustainability, and engineering design.
Prior to joining FairHeat, Liam worked as a Technician at Renova AB, an energy-from-waste facility, where he was responsible for maintaining efficient plant operations through mechanical servicing, data analysis, and control system optimisation. He later worked as an Energy Consultant, specialising in building energy optimisation and decarbonisation. In this role, he conducted energy audits, carried out technical assessments, developed practical decarbonisation strategies, and gained project management experience leading a multi-asset decarbonisation project.
At FairHeat, Liam began the Graduate Scheme in the District Heating Design department, assessing the feasibility of early-stage heat network schemes. He then moved into the Quality Assurance department, where he supported the validation of new-build and retrofit projects, helping to ensure systems achieved their intended design outcomes and operated as efficiently as possible.
Currently, Liam is a Consulting Engineer within FairHeat’s Compliance team. In this role, he focuses on improving the performance of existing heat networks, ensuring they operate efficiently, reliably, and in line with industry standards. He works closely with clients and project teams to identify opportunities for optimisation, enhance system performance, and support the delivery of high-quality heat network solutions that contribute to the transition to net zero.
“What drew me to FairHeat was the opportunity to work holistically in district heating design and operation. I truly believe that district heating is one of the key pathways to decarbonizing UK heating stock and tackling the climate crisis.”
