Michael Ridge

Associate Director

Mike joined FairHeat in 2018 and has been part of the Senior Leadership Team ever since. In his first role, he led the New Build division of FairHeat, building the client side Quality Assurance services for new heat networks, from concept to practical completion.

As his knowledge in Energy Strategy grew through market shifts from CHP to electrification, Mike used his previous experience from E.ON Community Energy to begin working on large scale District Energy projects. Through this, he developed expertise in Techno-Economic Modelling and Project Development. He was the Technical Lead on several flagship DH projects, including the recently construction Bradford Energy Network, where he was instrumental in the project development and customer engagement journey.

Most recently, Mike heads up our Retrofit Design & Build division, offering clients and end-to-end service from securing funding, design and through to construction management of complex residential and commercial retrofit projects. He currently acts as Project Director for the Milton Keynes University Hospital Decarboniation project, a £12m retrofit project where FairHeat are overseeing the design and delivery of replacing c.1,600 radiators and c.40 AHU recoils, as well as substantial plantroom upgrades and facilitating the connection to a new low carbon District Heating network.

Mike’s passion and drive comes from his enjoyment in working with like-minded people who want to do the right thing, and focusses on collobaration and shared successes. His proudest achievements in FairHeat are its people, and the development of young engineers remains a core part of his day to day role.

"My role at FairHeat allows me to simultaneously have an influential role in tackling the challenge of decarbonising heat in the UK whilst also helping to develop the future technical and thought leaders who will shape our low carbon economy. It is incredibly rewarding to see the impacts the company has on improving the industry and on developing young engineers, and we are just getting started!"
