Olivia Urrutibehety
Consulting Engineer
Olivia joined FairHeat as a Graduate Engineer in 2023 after completing an MEng in Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.
During her studies, she undertook an international research placement at Kyushu University in Japan, focusing on heat transfer applications, and gained industry experience in sustainable process design with a food technology company specialising in zero-waste processes.
Since joining FairHeat, Olivia has worked across several teams, building experience in heat network design, construction, commissioning, optimisation, and industry standards. She began in the Quality Assurance team, developing an understanding of best practice in heat network delivery, before moving to the Industry Standards team, where she contributed to guidance and technical documentation supporting the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS).
Olivia later joined the Compliance team, carrying out optimisation studies, site audits, performance analysis, financial modelling, and improvement proposals for residential and non-residential heat networks. She also completed an independent research project examining the lifecycle costs of heat networks.
Now a Consulting Engineer in FairHeat’s Pre-Construction team, Olivia supports the development of heat network retrofit projects from concept through to delivery and leads funding applications that help enable network improvement works.
"Recognising that heating is one of the UK’s main sources of carbon emissions reinforced for me the importance of expanding low‑carbon heating solutions. Since joining FairHeat, I have built the skills to make a meaningful contribution to improvement the performance of heat networks across the UK. Working closely with experienced colleagues has strengthened my ability to approach challenges critically and deliver effective solutions."
