Sharon Mohan-Kumar

Project Manager

Sharon joined FairHeat’s Graduate Scheme in 2022 as a Graduate Engineer. She holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a year in Industry from University College London (UCL), which she completed in 2022.

During her year in industry, Sharon worked at Atkins within the Resilience engineering team, where she gained valuable experience participating in and eventually leading consultations with clients. She updated several documents regarding the operation and safety of various machinery used in the military, understanding the critical safety of the equipment at hand. This required her to liaise across various departments and incorporate multiple ideas into a cohesive solution for their clients.

Sharon has a keen interest in research and has been recognized for her outstanding work in the field. She was a joint runner-up in the IChemE Macnab-Lacey Award for the 3rd year design project, which involved designing a plant for the production of styrene. She has also written and published a research blog on the Engins website titled ‘How Nanoparticles can be Used to Clean up Oil Spills’ on 29th July 2018.

"The advances made by FairHeat in its innovative approach to unlocking solutions to complex challenges within the heat network industry, such as decarbonisation, is what initially attracted me to this role. Seeing the far-reaching impacts of these developments in improving quality assurance for heat networks and building performance only increased my motivation for the job. I believe that FairHeat offers me a great opportunity to apply my technical knowledge acquired from studying chemical engineering to make a positive impact in the heating industry as we strive for a low carbon economy."
