Thomas Lupton

Project Manager

Thomas graduated in 2022 from the University of Bath with an MEng in Chemical Engineering with Industrial Placement. He was proud to be accepted into the first cohort of The Gold Scholarship Programme, which is awarded to only 50 students each year, and provided him with numerous opportunities for personal and professional development outside of his course.

During his industrial placement year at DOW Silicones in Barry, Wales, Thomas gained valuable experience working in a large chemical plant. He worked as an improvement engineer and assisted the run-plant team on multiple projects including feasibility studies. Thomas led a burner design project which involved work on energy balances, plant layout, and piping design while collaborating with external contractors to scope the project. He carried out a full plant Layers of Protection Analysis which resulted in the development of a Start-up/Shutdown sequence for the reactor plant.

Thomas joined FairHeat’s Graduate Scheme in 2022 as a Graduate Engineer. He gained a detailed technical understanding of engineering principles in both new build and retrofit design whilst adopting a depth of experience in both project, client and contractor management. Thomas successfully completed the Graduate Scheme in 2024 and was promoted to a consulting Engineer.

“Joining FairHeat is an exciting opportunity to join leading experts in the Heat Networks industry and to learn/work with its best engineers. FairHeat’s focus on sustainability and decarbonisation of the UK drew me to the role as I aspire to be a part of the solution to the climate crisis.”
