Thomas Moore
Senior Engineer
Tom joined FairHeat in September 2025 as a Graduate Engineer after graduating from the University of Manchester with an MEng in Chemical Engineering. Motivated by a desire to understand and contribute to sustainability in practical and meaningful ways, he pursued chemical engineering with a particular interest in energy systems and low-carbon technologies.
During his studies, Tom developed a strong interest in thermodynamics and utility system design, gaining a deep understanding of how heat can be generated, stored, and transferred efficiently. These areas provided him with a solid technical foundation and sparked his interest in the heat network sector.
Since joining FairHeat, Tom has gained experience across multiple teams through the Graduate Scheme, beginning his first rotation in the District Heating Design team. This experience provided valuable insight into the design and development of heat network projects and helped build his understanding of the technical and commercial considerations involved in delivering low-carbon heating solutions.
Currently, Tom is a Graduate Engineer within FairHeat’s Compliance team. In this role, he supports a range of activities including Portfolio Reviews, Optimisation Studies, and Consumer Protection initiatives, helping clients improve the performance, reliability, and efficiency of their heat networks. Through his work, Tom contributes to ensuring heat network systems deliver positive outcomes for both clients and end users while supporting FairHeat’s mission to accelerate the transition to low-carbon heating.
"I studied engineering at university because I was really keen to use science to make a difference when it comes to sustainability. Joining FairHeat is exactly the type of opportunity that I have been searching for, allowing for me to use my technical knowledge to help work towards net-zero."
